Lieutenant Colonel Simeon G. Smith

 

Major Simeon G. Smith is the Chief of Preventive Medicine at SHAPE Healthcare Facility.  He arrived at SHAPE on 10 July 2019.

Major Smith was born in Monrovia, Republic of Liberia.  In 1992, he, his parents and siblings migrated to the United States of America.  He earned his Bachelor of  Science in  Nursing from University of Maryland, Baltimore,  Maryland. He commissioned in 2004 into the Army Nurse Corps.

Before coming to SHAPE HCF, MAJ Smith served as the Chief of Preventive Medicine at  Fox Army Health Center, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama from 30 May 2016 - 09 July 2019.  His  other military assignments include: Public Health Nurse Consultant, 30th Medical Command, Sembach, Germany; Public Health Nurse Consultant, Task Force Medical Afghanistan, Bagram, Afghanistan; Public Health Nurse Consultant, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Public Health Nurse, Camp Walker, Korea; Public Health Nurse, Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), Washington, D.C.; Staff Nurse, Medical Surgical Unit, WRAMC, Washington, D.C.; Clinical Nurse, ICW, 10th Combat Support Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq; Combat Medic – 91B, Maryland Army National Guard.

MAJ Smith earned his Master Degree for International Relations from University of  Oklahoma and is currently working on his Masters in Public Health. His military education includes Basic Training and AIT, the AMEDD Basic and Advanced Courses , U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal , Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal,  Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon,  NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge and Parachutist Badge.

MAJ Smith is married to Mrs. Theresa Smith. They have two children, Gideon, and Simone.
